A brief update on the past weekend's rocking...
Saturday, the Randall's island show was pretty spot on. My brother bought me one (1) ticket for my birthday last month, yet I was able to find a crew of some of my favorite peeps to hang with. It was the perfect mix of folks wanting to get all up in the rock action close to the stage, and peeps who wanted to chill on the blanket/start our own dance parties. I spent equal parts doing both.
One thing I have to say about the Arcade Fire crowd - I think they created a new genre: Couple Rock. I don't think I've ever seen that many couples at a show. Granted, there were supposedly 25000 people there. See? That's an even number.
Sunday at the DJ gig, I was playing Cheap Trick's "Surrender" and some dude came up to me and shared one of the best stories I've ever heard. He said when the song came out, he was about five. And he would listen to it in his backyard, rip grass out of the ground and pretend to roll joints. That made my night.
